Job Posting: Manual Machinist

JOB SUMMARY:

The Manual Machinist is responsible for the operation of large industrial machines while making various pump parts to precise specifications. You will utilize your skills to develop and maintain these parts utilizing knowledge of metal properties, set ups, layouts, and precision machining procedures. The successful candidate will be familiar with machining on equipment such as a manual lathe.

 

Key Job Responsibilities and Qualifications:

 

  • Performing layouts, setting up and operating conventional machine tools as required

  • Ability to setup machine tools: ID / OD Grinders, Turret Lathe, Engine Lathe, Horizontal Boring Mill, Vertical Boring Mill, Radial Drill, Planer Mill

  • Reading and interpreting all drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing

  • Must be able to hold very close tolerances (+/- 0.001”).

  • Can inspect parts using all micrometers for checking diameters, lengths and depths, and grooves, slots, and drill dimensions

  • Experienced in machining pump components such as cases, impellers, wear-rings, bearing housings, shafts.

  • Follows instruction from a traveler/router and machining procedures to perform the machining process.

  • Continually improving methods to deliver higher quality machined parts

  • Attention to detail with a results-driven background

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Willing to work overtime as required

  • Journeyman machinist or 5-10 years of experience / or comparable experience within the aftermarket pump or rotating equipment industry preferred.

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Valid status/work authorization is required

Job Posting: Pump Mechanic

Position Description

  • Assemble complex assemblies and sub-assemblies from an itemized Bill of Materials

  • Assemble parts that have interference fits through use of heating and cooling the connecting parts

  • Measure and record sizes and clearances to within .001 inch

  • Demonstrate a good working knowledge of assembly and inspection process of the parts used in the assembly of a pump

Accountabilities

  • High degree of mechanical aptitude is required

  • Hands on experience with the ability to read blueprints and assembly drawings

  • Must be able to use, read and comprehend micrometers, calipers, gages and inspection tooling

  • Capable of performing to established standards

  • Thorough understanding of tooling used to assemble pumps

  • Fully understands the function of the individual components that comprise the pumps

  • Required to document shipping reports for quality assurance approval.

  • Document information on a Traveler’s job requisition

Position Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Journeyman mechanic or completion of a mechanic apprenticeship is a plus.

  • Computer literate

  • Five years or more in a similar role that requires tear down and assembly of mechanical parts

  • Ability to read and follow route sheets/blueprints.

  • Works well with people

  • Good communication skills both the oral and written form

  • Product/process knowledge is a plus

  • Takes initiative to get the job done correctly

  • Ability to work first or second shift Monday through Friday

  • Willing to work overtime when needed to service our customers

  • Valid work status and authorization is required

Job Posting: CNC Programmer

Job Summary:

The CNC Operator/Machinist for the Mazak machine is responsible for operation of specified machinery in order to develop and process parts, tools, and other workpieces as specified by Hydro.

Key Job Tasks:

  • Program using conversational controls such as Mazatrol Control.

  • Set up and operate CNC Lathe effectively and efficiently.

  • Complete set-ups on a variety of large, refurbished parts.

  • Machine parts to close tolerances (.001) from raw material and/or castings in the most efficient manner while understanding safety and quality requirements.

  • Read and interpret drawings using conventional tolerances as well as geometric tolerances.

  • Complete own set-ups.

  • Adjust speeds and feeds to maximize machining productivity.

  • Monitor machine operation and control panel displays to ensure proper working condition.

  • Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Other Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of tool layout and set up of raw material.

  • Sufficient math skills required to compute radii, bolt circles, and other dimensions.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.

  • Strong understanding and adherence to safety guidelines.

  • Proficiency in using measuring tools such as micrometer, caliper, depth gauge, fixed gauge, go-no-go gauge, and templates.

  • Proficiency in setting up jigs, fixtures, arbors, mandrels, centers, and clamps.

  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to operate overhead cranes preferred.

  • Ability to work required shift and overtime, as required.

Experience & Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • 3+ years of experience working as a CNC Machinist/Operator/Programmer

  • Previous pump industry experience a plus

  • Conventional machining experience a plus

  • Valid work status/authorization is required
